Brömserburg Castle (built in 1000) is located in Rüdesheim directly on the Rhine bank.

Originally built as a water castle for the archbishops of Mainz, it was home of numerous knight dynasties. Its name is due to the noble family "Brömser" from Rüdesheim, which inhabited it from 1548, until the family line died out in 1668.

Today the Brömserburg accommodates a wine and a local history museum with an impressive collection of marvellous glasses.
