The town Trechtingshausen is located at the foot of the forest "Soonwald" with Sooneck Castle close to the nature reserve "Morgenbachtal". At the access to this valley Reichenstein Castle, built on the remains of a former Roman fort, is situated.
Worth seeing in this traditional wine town are the remains of the medieval fortifications and the 11th century Clemens Chapel, a three-naved Romanesque pillar basilica. The legend has it that "Rudolf von Habsburg" executes the families of robber knights called "Sooneck" and "Reichenstein" in Trechtingshausen. Also Rheinstein Castle the symbol of Rhine Romanticism is located in Trechtingshausen.
Trechtingshausen offers as sportive activities hiking on the trail "Rhein Burgen Wanderweg" and
