Already in the 6th Century the holy Goar settled directly opposite the Loreley at the place of the today's city St.Goar.
In the local centre one can visit the Stiftskirche. A church with Gothic frescos which is consecrated the holy Goar. A further object of interest is "the catholic parish church" with one of the most valuable altarpieces from the 15th century.
The greatest tourist attraction however is Rheinfels Fortress, the largest castle ruin on the Rhine above St.Goar.
St.Goar offers possibilities for a multiplicity of "sporty activities" like e.g.:
"Paragliding" - also tandem flights - over the valley of the Loreley and hiking on the trail
"Rhein Burgen Wanderweg".
Because of its sandy beach St.Goar is ideal stopover for the romantic zamku and palaces canoe tour and bicycle tour through the Upper Middle Rhine Valley World Heritage.
